THE Lessons of art: Art as therapy for Cancer survivors
Each week participants will be asked to discuss and work on themed topics and projects, both collaboratively and individually. The weekly seesions incorporate group talk therapy, directed meditation and visualization, psychoeducational components and art therapy projects. Some themes explored will involve, the lessons of art, the mind-body connection, the body, mindfulness, love/relationships, self-acceptance, courage, control/faith, perception/trust, and death, dying and finding meaning.
Philosopher Alain de Botton says Art as Therapy, “holds out the promise of inner wholeness.” It helps us remember, promotes hope, helps process sorrow, creates a rebalancing, increases self-awareness and self-understanding, promotes personal growth, confidence, gratitude and appreciation.
